For writers and poets
A website for writers and poets, ₹7,200 a year
We design it for free. The yearly fee covers hosting, security and upkeep, so the only other thing you pay for is your domain name.
The Geeks Room builds websites for writers and poets who are members of the ArtoonsInn Writers Room. The design is free. You pay ₹7,200 a year, or $138 if you're outside India, and that covers hosting, security, backups and all the technical upkeep. Your domain name is paid for separately. The only other cost is a custom feature, if you ask for one. Not a member yet? Joining the Writers Room group on Facebook is free and qualifies you.
In India that works out to ₹600 a month for a site that is built, hosted and looked after by the people who made it. You send us your bio, your pieces and your book covers. We turn them into a fast site that readers, editors and search engines can all make sense of. The price stays the same when you renew.

What costs extra, and why
Your domain name. You buy it in your own name at the registrar's price, and we tell you the cost before you pay. We don't register domains on our own accounts, so the name is yours from day one.
Custom features. An online bookstore with payments, a members area, a custom design or pages beyond the five included are quoted in writing before any work starts. You decide whether to go ahead.
Writing and editing. You bring the words. If you want help with an About page or a book blurb, that's our Content & Copywriting service.
Nothing else. No design fee, no setup fee.
What's covered
The technical side is handled
Design at no charge
We plan the layout around your writing: your books, poems, essays and bio come first. There is no design fee and no setup fee.
Hosting included
Your site runs on our server, which suits up to about 10,000 visitors a month. If you outgrow it, we'll tell you and help you move to your own hosting, free of cost.
Security looked after
Cloudflare protection, an SSL certificate and a monthly security scan, so you never have to think about a hacked site.
Upkeep and backups
We run the WordPress, plugin and theme updates, take weekly backups and fix whatever breaks.
Easy to find
On-page SEO, analytics and structured data, so Google and AI assistants can tell who you are and what you've written.
Help when you need it
Email us any time. Questions and fixes get an answer within 24 to 48 hours.
What you get
The pages a writer's site needs
Most writers' sites need five pages. The home page introduces you and points to your latest work. About carries your bio and photo. The books or writing page shows covers, blurbs and buy links, or links to your published pieces. The blog holds new posts, essays or poems. Contact tells editors, readers and event organisers how to reach you.
If you run a newsletter, we can link to it or embed its signup form. The site is built on WordPress, so you can add posts yourself, and we'll show you how.
How it works
From first message to a live site
-
01
Message us
Send a WhatsApp message and tell us you're a member of the ArtoonsInn Writers Room. If you haven't joined yet, join the group first, which is free. Then we'll talk through what you want on the site.
-
02
Send your material
Your bio, a photo, book covers and descriptions, links to your pieces. Your words stay yours: we place and format them, and we don't rewrite them.
-
03
We build it privately
The site is built on a private copy and we send you a link to review. You tell us what to change, and we change it.
-
04
Launch and upkeep
You buy your domain in your own name, we walk you through it and connect it, and the site goes live. From then on the yearly fee covers hosting, security, backups and support.
Who it's for
Who gets the Writers' Plan
The plan is for members of the ArtoonsInn Writers Room, a free creative writing community for poets, authors and other writers. If you're a member, you qualify. If you aren't, join the Writers Room group on Facebook and you qualify as soon as you're in.
It's for individual writers, whatever you write: poetry, fiction, non-fiction, journalism, translation, scripts, lyrics, blogging, editing or teaching writing. Publishing houses, magazines and agencies have bigger needs, so we quote them as business websites. Members who want a larger or more custom site can ask for one, and we'll quote it before starting.
Why it matters
Why a writer needs their own website
When an editor, a festival organiser or a reader searches your name, the first result should be something you control. Social platforms change their rules and their reach without warning, and a post from three years ago is gone from view. A website keeps your books, your bio and your best pieces in one place that stays put.
It also decides what AI assistants say about you. When someone asks ChatGPT or Google who you are or where to buy your book, the answer comes from pages that state it plainly. A clear About page, your titles with their publishers and buy links, and structured data behind them give those tools something accurate to quote.
Owning the site matters too. Before you sign up with anyone, read our guide on who owns your website and check the domain is in your name.

Questions
Common questions about the Writers' Plan
How much does a website for a writer cost at The Geeks Room?
The Writers' Website Plan costs ₹7,200 a year, which works out to ₹600 a month, billed once a year. Writers outside India pay $138 a year. Website design is free. You pay separately for your domain name, and for any custom feature you ask us to add.
Is the website design free?
Yes. The Geeks Room charges no design fee and no setup fee on the Writers' Website Plan. The ₹7,200 a year pays for hosting, security, backups and technical upkeep.
What does the ₹7,200 a year cover?
It covers hosting on our server, Cloudflare protection, an SSL certificate, WordPress, plugin and theme updates, weekly backups, a monthly security scan, and email support with a 24 to 48 hour response. It also covers the on-page SEO and analytics setup done when your site is built.
What costs extra on the Writers' Website Plan?
Two things: your domain name, which you buy in your own name at the registrar's price, and any custom feature, such as an online bookstore with payments, a members area, a custom design or pages beyond the five included. We quote custom work in writing before we start.
Who can get the Writers' Website Plan?
Members of the ArtoonsInn Writers Room, a free creative writing community, can get the Writers' Website Plan. If you aren't a member yet, you can join and qualify. The plan is for individual writers, so publishing houses, magazines and agencies are quoted as business websites.
How do I join the ArtoonsInn Writers Room?
Join the ArtoonsInn Writers Room group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/WritersAndReadersRoom/. It's free. Once you're in, message The Geeks Room on WhatsApp and we'll confirm your membership and start on your website.
Does the price of the Writers' Website Plan change when I renew?
No. The Writers' Website Plan stays at ₹7,200 a year when you renew, or $138 a year for writers outside India.
Can I get a discount on top of the Writers' Website Plan?
No. The ₹7,200 a year price is already a special rate for writers, so no further discount applies on top of it.
Do I own my website and my domain?
You own your domain, because you buy it in your own name, and you own everything you write. We never register a domain on our own account. The site runs on our hosting while you're on the plan, and if you ever leave, we'll give you a copy of your content to take with you.
Can I sell my books from my writer's website?
You can show your books with covers, descriptions and links to wherever they're sold, such as Amazon or your publisher's page. Taking payments directly on your site means setting up an online store. That's a custom feature, quoted separately.
What happens if my website gets more than 10,000 visitors a month?
The hosting on the Writers' Website Plan suits up to about 10,000 visitors a month. If your readership grows past that, we'll tell you and help you move to your own hosting at no charge.
Will you write or edit the content on my website?
By default you provide the words and we place them. We don't rewrite your work. If you want help with an About page or a book blurb, our Content & Copywriting service can do it, quoted separately.
Can writers outside India use the Writers' Website Plan?
Yes. Writers outside India pay $138 a year instead of ₹7,200, and get the same plan: free design, hosting, security and upkeep, with the domain name paid for separately. Message us on WhatsApp to get started.
